Yellow cake! It's our favorite, and we've never been shy about admitting we use box mixes (Duncan Hines anyone??) to make them. They're reliable and easy, and frankly, we like the taste! Recently though, we've been trying out Test Kitchen's Cooking School (yay!) and I've kept coming back to this recipe. I've heard people rave about it and to be honest, I just didn't believe that a homemade yellow cake could be any good. My personal experience is that they are dense and have a slight raw egg taste (gag).Read More
It's our favorite time of the year! Fall! I know it seems overdone lately, but I just can't help myself. The leaves changing colors, pumpkins in the front of every grocery store, frost in the mornings, pumpkin spice candles, candy on every aisle of the grocery store...the list could go on and on! So when I saw this Autumn Treats Pan by Nordic Ware, I added it to my list of Fall favorites!Read More
I love my Crown bundt. It just makes everything so much prettier. Isn't it gorgeous? You just can't go wrong with bundt cake. And this recipe is the best. It tastes wonderful, with or with out the fresh fruit and whip cream. It also tastes good with coffee. I would know since I ate it for breakfast this morning.Read More
In the last few years bacon has really exploded. You see it everywhere, right? Bacon soap, bacon wallpaper, bacon...chapstick?? I find this...really...interesting. I've never known a time that I didn't love bacon but that doesn't exactly mean that I want it on my socks, you know? Well, one thing I do want it on is my plate. Breakfast, lunch dinner etc. etc. It's pretty much good with everything. So why not cinnamon rolls?!
And why not little itty bitty ones...cause mini is always more fun to eat.
Let me just say this: make the cookie dough, buy the Oreos, mix up the brownie batter, whip the buttercream and sprinkle the sprinkles because you can, and it is delicious, and there really is nothing more to say on the matter...Read More
Happy 70th Anniversary to Nordic Ware! In celebration, they have released a trio of beautiful new pans in a gold metallic finish. They are so pretty! You can find out more here. This one here is the Crown Bundt. It's a beauty and a pleasure to bake with as well! I very rarely bake cakes in anything else these days because it seems so...well, boring! If you want the wow factor, buy a Bundt pan!Read More
It's really no secret, we love pie. Okay, wait a minute, I have never loved pie...until recently. Okay, until this week when I was playing around with this recipe and decided I wasn't going to go running after all (I'm trying to get back into shape, and running has always been the way I do that...) and that I was going to taste these hand pies. Usually, I bake something, and take a small taste, to see how it turned out and then trust my kids for the rest.Read More
This is very easy to make. In fact it's so easy I have a hard time even calling it a recipe. I just wanted to make a Valentine's Day cake in my pretty heart-shaped bundt pan and I wanted it to have a vibrant red swirl in the center. But I had so many people asking for the recipe that I decided to go ahead and write a blog post about it. So here I am, about to reveal all my secrets.Read More
