A chocolate dream, I don't think there is much to say besides that. This is a simple cake that is easy to whip up. It can be made in a 9x13, if you don't have a bundt pan...but we really like it the bundt pan! Pretty and delicious!
What you will need:
For the cake:
10-12 cup bundt pan (or 9x13)
3 cups of flour
2 cups of sugar
1/2 cup dark chocolate cocoa
1 teaspoon of salt
2 teaspoons of baking soda
2 tablespoons of vanilla
2 tablespoons of vinegar
3/4 cup oil
2 cups of cold water
2/3 cup rough chopped dark chocolate, or chocolate chips
2 tablespoons melted butter for greasing the bundt pan before baking
For the ganache:
1 cup dark chocolate, coarsely chopped
1 cup heavy cream
1 tablespoon butter
pinch of salt
*this is my favorite ganache recipe and it is taken from Ovenly cookbook
Preheat oven 350F
Use a pastry brush to evenly coat the bundt pan with melted butter, once the bundt pan is "painted" with butter, repeat process a second time to ensure your cake slips right out of the pan after baking!
Next, mix up the dry ingredients in large mixing bowl.
In a separate smaller bowl mix up the wet ingredients. Now, add the wet ingredients to dry the ingredients and mix well. Throw in the chopped chocolate and give one more good stir.
Pour batter into prepared bundt pan and bake for roughly 55 minutes until toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
While cake is baking whip up the ganache.
Place the chopped chocolate in a large heatproof bowl and set aside. In a medium sized saucepan heat the cream on medium-low, bringing to simmer. Once the cream is simmering, pour it over the chocolate, covering it all. Let it stand for 3-4 minutes, or until chocolate has melted. Next, add the butter to the chocolate mixture and whisk until smooth and shiny. Add the salt and stir. Set aside.
Allow cake to cool in bundt pan for 10-15 minutes before removing to cake plate. Cool for 20-30 minutes before pouring on ganache.
